Same great pack, different pack number!

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Hi Scout Families!

I’m happy to announce a change to our Pack number! After years of confusion between packs 497 and 479, our leadership has decided that it is time for a change. We are adopting the new Pack number 919.

At our first Pack meeting in September, we will supply new numbers for all scouts. If kids could come “numberless” and ready to recycle the one 9 on their uniform, we can make it into an event!

We are working on changing our website and e-mail numbers, but if you use the old info it will redirect you as needed. New shirts will be exactly like our current blue t-shirts with glow in the dark ink, but with the new pack number, available for $5. Our family is going to keep our old shirts until they wear out, then switch.

We will see you at the Family Picnic on Sunday!

Rocket Launch

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

On Sunday, July 25th, we have our annual Rocket Launch, at the CMS fields from 3-5 pm. Bring your own rocket, the pack will supply the engines and the launch pads. This is a joint venture with Pack 479, so be sure to wear your blue pack t-shirts or uniform. You can make your own rocket from a kit, or buy one all constructed and ready-to-go. You can find rockets at hobby stores like Hub Hobby or Hobbytown, or even at Walmart. Pick one that uses an A or B sized engine — no C engines are allowed.
Please RVSP to MARY VAN BEUSEKOM (vanbeusekom1 {at} msn(.)com) by July 20.  –
Adults, you will want chairs, and if you have portable shade (like a canopy), you might want to bring that, too. Siblings can participate, too — we ask for a $2 donation to offset the cost of the engines.

********VOLUNTEERS NEEDED**************
- Volunteers to help assemble the barrier area before the event
- Volunteers to help the boys assemble the rockets and the igniters properly.
- Volunteers to help launch the rockets – adults only inside the firing zone
- Volunteers to help keep the boys in order at first while they wait their turn

Parents – if you are able to come to the event,  we hope you will think about volunteering to make the event more successful!

Thank you,
Lori Hasan
